If you recall, I did a two-part series on replying to Ali Stuckey in her broadcast over the five points of Calvinism.

And I had to break it up because, as always,

I'm a little bit long-winded. And so here is part two. I will put a link in the show notes to

part one. If you haven't watched that, you can see in it in its entirety. You don't really have to

watch part one in order to understand part two. They're kind of stand-alone as far as covering each

of these usually pretty basic points of what the Calvinist

system teaches. And I try to just to go over those proof texts and hopefully this is helpful to you.

God bless. So then, the chapter says, it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God

who has mercy. For the scripture says to Pharaoh, for...

And that's true on our system as much as it is on yours, Alley, because if you humbly confess

your sins responsibly and freedom, then it doesn't depend upon you're climbing the rope. It

depends upon His mercy and grace when you let go of the rope. So the contrast is not monogism versus synergism, i.e. Calvinism versus Armenianism.

The contrast in Paul's mind is works versus faith.

That God can have mercy on whom ever he wants to have mercy, even barbarian gentiles, prostitutes, tax collectors,

if they put their faith in God, let go of the rope.

You mean to tell me that God can have mercy on a prostitute who lets go of the law,

who doesn't strive after the law, God can have mercy on them?

Yes, it's exactly what Paul is trying to say.

How do I know that's what Paul is trying to say?

Well, look at his own concluding words in Romans chapter 9, verse 30 and following.

When he says, what shall we say to these things? He's giving a commentary.
