Good news. I feel better than I've felt in a while.

So, yesterday I got an email from a listener saying it was a little discordant or strange to have an ad for Ali Baba

on the podcast. I was talking to Hal Brands about how China is a threat.

And he was like, maybe I'm missing something. And so I wrote back to him and said, yeah, you're absolutely right.

It is discordant. And it is also, and you are also missing something, which is that most of those professional radio sounding ads,

we don't negotiate those directly. Those come through Spotify.

And they're fed into the show. And things are going better with them than they were with our old partner.

But sometimes weird stuff comes through. I've now heard it on commentary.

And sometimes only they heard it on our podcast. There's this ad for special summer savings from JC Penny

that gets fed out programmatically to people's podcasts, including mine and again commentary.

And that's fine. I got no problem with JC Penny. I got no problem with a good bargain at JC Penny.

But there's Spanish language ads. And it just seems to me I am sure there are some Spanish speakers

who listen to my podcast or the commentary podcast. I am sure there are probably even some native Spanish speakers.

Probably not a ton, but some, you know, great. It's wonderful. But my hunch is that they,

they also understand English because it would be a pretty weird thing to listen to

me or John Badoritz or whoever talking for like an hour with some other English speaker

about public policy and politics stuff in a language that yet don't understand. Like I just don't
