Woe

aka Eschatologuy

You have undoubtedly heard the phrase ‘all sins are equal’ at some point in your life, but you have just as assuredly not found it in Scripture — it is not there. The Word of God does not teach that all sins are equal; in fact, it teaches quite the opposite: some sins are worse than others.

In this episode, we go through Scripture highlighting a number of sections that deal with degrees of sin or sinfulness. This episode serves both as a standalone episode on the topic of the supposed ‘equality of sins’ and as a foundation for next week’s episode which will cover Antinomianism.

Today's episode of Stone Quire is talking about the subject of whether all sins are equal.

Generally, they're liberal Christians who are trying to avoid controversy.

They're trying to avoid any sense of accusation or claiming that one person could possibly be worse

than another.

1:15.3

That's something that Protestants, a particular, are extremely allergic to.

So today what we're going to be going through is a series of verses straight from scripture.

This is basically going to be a long Bible study where we talk about the various

verses that make absolutely explicit that not all sins are equal, that not only are they not

1:33.5

equal in God's eyes, but that they are punished unequally as well. Like many of our episodes,

1:40.0

this is fundamentally an assault on the false doctrine of equality. There's no such thing before God at any point.

And we'll get into the details of what we mean,

because obviously there are counterarguments that some make

that we're going to demolish here,

in this case, dealing with the question of sin being equal.

First passage we're going to talk about today is from John 19. It's one that we've all

heard recently as we're just on the heels of Holy Week. So Pilate said to Jesus,
