| 1:10.5 | Sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium, |
| 1:14.5 | calcium, phosphorus, and bicarbonate are all electrolytes. Electrolites are minerals that conduct |
| 1:21.5 | electrical charges in your body. And this allows the transmission of messages between cells. And I'm going to talk a lot |
| 1:29.9 | about fluid balance today. And sodium and potassium are really the two key players in fluid balance. |
| 1:39.6 | I want to talk about some other functions in the body that are supported by electrolytes. |
| 1:46.3 | Energy metabolism, conducting electricity to power the nervous system, producing and regulating |
| 1:53.8 | hormones like cortisol, adrenaline, aldosterone, and antidioretic hormone. |
| 2:00.9 | Calcium and potassium are directly involved in ATP synthesis. |
| 2:06.6 | And ATP is the energy of our cells. |
