We've got a bunch of big news today.

We are going to be talking about the Calais decision, the big Voting Rights Act, decision

from the Supreme Court that basically overturned the Voting Rights Act.

I guess it serves some purpose of the court to say they didn't actually overturn the entire law,

just kind of narrowed its scope.

But we're going to talk about that.

We're also going to talk about the TPS oral arguments, immigration related.

And then finally, we'll get into the latest Trump Comey retribution indictments. So all of that.

So let's just jump right into it, since Kate is our Supreme Court reporter, kind of on this case.

So Kate, what happened yesterday? So on Wednesday, we got the big voting rights

act decision that we here at TPM, you know, curtain rays have been kind of waiting with bated

breath for every opinion day. You know's been like okay it's not calais

but got it on wednesday from the moment it dropped you saw that alito wrote the opinion so you knew

it was going to be nothing good um and essentially what he did is he took this provision of the voting

rights act section two um which the only real remaining

use of it, thanks to the Supreme Court, is to challenge racial gerrymanders, where specifically

minority voters have been diluted across districts to make sure that their candidate of choice is always kind of swamped

by the surrounding white voters.

And there has been a lot of speculation.

I've been doing reporting about how they were going to do this, right?

No one thought that they were going to not kind of narrow or kill this section.
