continue to merge with other genres to reach a wider audience and gain commercial success.

In 1987, Jack Sholder made a movie about an alien parasite on a murder spree jumping from

body to body, which blended horror and sci-fi with action and body cop thrillers.

Why three law abiding citizens all of a sudden go crazy and start killing people?

A year later, John Carpenter took a lovecraftian story of alien rulers hidden among us,

but used it as a way to make a comedic action satire about Reaganism.
