Summary

There is absolutely a place for LGBTQ+ in the church. That is because this is Jesus Christ's church and they are children of God, it is that simple. There are a lot of facets to it, but it really is that simple. My testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is founded on my testimony of Jesus Christ being my savior. He is the savior of all mankind. Of everyone who is living, who has ever lived, and who will ever live. Anyone in LBGTQ+ community is not excluded from that. It doesn't make it easy, but I know it is possible because of Him.

0:26.0	I'd love to hear a little bit about you and kind of your past, maybe a little background on you today.
0:34.4	And so I'm Alicia, 34, live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
0:40.1	I'm a disability support worker and I do music therapy for a lot of my clients as well.
0:49.2	Love my job and I'm upgrading my bio so I can go back to school and be therapeutic recreation a little bit about me now.
0:58.0	I am a convert. I joined the church when I was 19. I kind of grew up not really knowing if God existed or not really knowing if God existed or not.
1:09.0	I didn't put a whole lot of thought into it until I went to art school and I was taking some philosophy courses and where
1:18.8	those like essential questions came up like is there a god, what's the purpose of life, what happens after we die, those sorts of things, and so, anyways, that's kind of what brought the interest. I started going to this Christian church for about nine months and there was some really like life molding experiences that I had there are some really like dark spiritual experiences like
1:47.6	spiritual abuse that happened there I was pretty naive to Christianity and everything that came with it.
1:54.8	I didn't really have anything to put that up against, but that was also like the
2:00.0	beginning of that was the foundation of my belief in Jesus Christ. And things were just like really
2:07.2	rocky for me and so I ended up moving to our self in with my sister.
2:15.0	My sister had the missionaries check up on me
2:18.2	because she was worried about me
2:19.4	and I ended up just like falling in love
2:21.4	with these sisters and some of my family members are
2:25.2	members of the church.
2:27.1	I started meeting with the sisters and eventually they asked me to pray about everything and I kind of thought like going into it but
2:37.2	Just based on everything that that other Christian church they would preach like anti-Morman stuff in the church sermons and stuff so I was kind of
2:46.7	scared of reading the book of Mormon but every time that I read it I just like really
2:50.3	connected with it but so after joining the church, I just like I'd never felt God's love for me before in my whole life and so that was really magnificent to have that experience and I just
