She told me she was coming back. She wrote, she swore to me she was coming back. At first I thought maybe she wasn't happy here.

Maybe you know I just thought a lot of things but if she wasn't, why don't you tell me she was gonna come back? Why did she apologize?

She knew that she was gonna hurt me and she apologized. She said I'm sorry. I swore and I'm coming back.

So I'm waiting for that. Promise that she is coming back. I just want her back. I'm just hoping that whoever she's with really wants the best for her.

And she's out in a situation where she's being holed against her will. I just want her to be happy. That's all.

I think that what comes to the forefront of my thinking in all this is that Alicia really had to trust whoever she's with.

And it was very uncharacteristic for Alicia just to leave and go with someone.

So it's kind of a mystery and I just can't wrap my brain around it. Other than I know that we constantly need to get the information out there.

In the early morning hours of September 15th, 2019, then 14 year old Alicia Navarro gathered her laptop and phone,

wrote out a short note to her mom and headed for the backyard of the family home.

Once there, she stacked some chairs and climbed over the first wall around her home, then stacked a pile of leftover bricks to climb the outer wall.

Alicia made it over the barriers designed to protect her family's home and vanished into the darkness that morning.

Back in September of 2019, 14 year old Alicia Navarro was living with her family in their Glendale home in the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona.

She attended a private Catholic school and excelled in many subjects with a passion for learning. For this story, we spoke to Alicia's mom Jessica about what Alicia's strengths and challenges are.

Alicia is a high-fantaking autistic. There's a school project that she actually just did that she defined her own personality, which was shy, awkward, vulnerable, weird, those are her descriptions of her stuff.

She knew that she was shy, awkward, she always thought she was because she was different, but we worked on that with Airbnb and we spoke with her.
