Today a conversation with California's first Latino senator Alex Padilla.

You know, anti-immigrant hate can sometimes be productive. In this case, Alex Padilla might not

have become a politician had it not been for anti-immigrant hate in the state where he was born and where he was raised by Mexican

immigrant parents. But Padilla took that hatred and transformed it into action and in the process made history.

On January 20th, 2021, Vice President Kamala Harris swore Alex Padilla in to fill the vacancy she left in the Senate and on that day

Padilla became the first Latino senator ever to represent the state of California

which is home to over 30% of all the Latinos and Latinos who live in the United
