a do-over. Lawyers for former prominent South Carolina attorney Alec Murdoch

were back in court Wednesday asking justices of the state Supreme Court to overturn the

convictions and subsequent life sentences for the murders of his wife Maggie and son Paul,

defense attorney Dick Harputlian. The justices were engaged. They were prepared. They read the stuff.

They understood the stuff.

And had very intelligent questions that indicate to me that they're wrestling with the issues we asked in the wrestle with.

Those issues include retaining a court clerk that they argue influence the jury to find Murdoch guilty in hopes of improving future book sales about the trial,

and introducing evidence they claim had no connection to the 2021 killings.

Prosecutors argue the evidence against Murdoch was overwhelming, and the clerk's comments,
