My guest, writer, and now director, Alex Kirstman, goes a long way back going into television,

starting with, I guess, stuff like Hercules and Zena Princess Warrior to bigger issues

and shows such as alias.

He and his partner rebooted Hawaii 50 recently.

They also created fringe. He is here as a solo artist this time around, or at least a semi- solo artist. He co-wrote the film People

Like Us and directed it by himself. Alex, first of all, thanks so much for being here.

Oh, thanks, Elvis. I'm a huge fan. I'm so excited to be here. Oh, I'll fix that.

If I can, before we get really going here, have you tell people what

people like us is all about? People Like Us is about Chris Pine plays a young man who's a bartered tradesman,

which is essentially someone who sells air. And he finds out on the day that he understands that he's

$80,000 in debt that his father has died. And he goes home and he's contacted by his father's

lawyer. And basically what he discovers is that his dad left him a bag of money filled with $150,000.

And I note that says, please deliver this to a woman who he finds out is the secret sister he never

knew about. And what he comes to discover is that his dad had a secret family he never knew,

and he gets into her life without telling her the truth about who he is

because he initially wants to keep the money for himself, and disaster ensues.

Disaster ensues in any number of things you've done in the past.

And one of the things that links all the stuff you've done is a guy, a single person,

seeking a piece of information.

And these guys seeing this information basically at their own peril.
