Summary

It's the episode you've all been asking for....Alcohol and the menopause.

Why does it make you feel like drinking? Will a glass of red help your symptoms? If I am sober will the menopause be easier? So many questions and only two uneducated buffoons to answer them!

It's not a topic that Vic and Hame know much about so they had to learn on the go and bring in an expert - Dr Sally Hunt from the University of Newcastle explains why women feel the need to drown out the side effects of 'the change' and how preparing yourself mentally, and quitting drinking before menopause will mean you will cope much better.

Today is all about the ladies but don't switch off completely gents! We also have a little chat about the male menopause (yes, there is such a thing!) and why it's so important for partners to understand what's going on and how to approach this, strangely taboo, topic.

Hamish and I are here to delve into what it's like being sober. An unwanted warts and all look into why giving up those cheeky pints or putting down those mummy wines will make you feel happier, help your anxiety in mental health and turn you into the most sparkly authentic version of you. Won't that mean I become boring though, Vic? Well, Hamish, we'll just have to wait and see. I'm Victoria Vanstone. I'm Hamish Adams Cairns. And this is Sober Awkward.

How are you feeling about this, Hamish?

I don't know a lot. No, I don't really either. So this is why it's an interesting topic. We're going to talk about alcohol and the men are poor today. And we get asked to do this episode quite a lot. There's a lot of women that listen to our podcast that need to know this information. It's not something people talk about.

2:08.2

I have no idea why. And George the other day, my 11 year old son said to me, Mommy, it's hard being a woman sometimes, isn't it? What sparked that conversation? I can't remember what
