I think a lot of shit is mean-spirited, just because it goes against what they believe. But the relief of comedy is it take things that aren't funny, and it allows us to laugh about them for an hour

Welcome to another episode of Why You Laughing at History of Comedy Podcast.

And today I am pleased to introduce to you the legendary Albert Brooks, a guy who,

my introduction to Albert Brooks was, well, I guess based on my age,

Finding Nemo, of course.

But really also, what I know him as is not necessarily a guy I was a fan of, but I remember seeing him in things when I was young.

And always thinking like, oh, I'd like to see more of that guy in this.

Like you, even like when I was old, he was in a season of weeds, I think, and he was the dad and this is 40.

And so before I like really knew the history of Albert Brooks and how respected he was in comedy,

he was kind of a magnetic figure that would pop up in stuff.

And then when you hear like the more invested I got in the history of comedy and

things like that, you would hear the name Albert Brooks and what a legend he was and

how much he was respected.

And it's interesting because he's a guy who is pretty rare in, definitely in modern culture culture where he has a mystique to him

where he did everything he wanted to do and nothing more and you know there's not 10 million

projects that are in your face even his most popular stuff might not be in the uh you know

the the everyday zeitgeist of

pop culture or anything. But he did everything he wanted to do and he was respected for it. So he's
