The first movie I ever did I played Albert Brooks, and Albert Brooks was a created character.

It was an exaggerated show business person.

But I didn't want to do that in each movie.

But what I did do is I picked a profession,

Phil Mediter, I love advertising, my brothers in advertising, professions that would allow my kind of thinking to be accepted.

So I picked writers or advertising executives or film editors

so I could make it more realistic.
