So, today, Congresswoman Maxine Waters essentially threatened and attempted to intimidate the

jury in the Derek Chauvin case.

She basically sent a message that if you don't convict Officer Chauvin of murder, if you

acquit or have a hung jury or convict him merely of manslaughter, we will take to the streets,

which clearly conveys a message, an intended message that plainly, if jurors vote to convict,

there will be consequences for their neighborhood, for their businesses, for their family, for

their schools.

That's not the kind of atmosphere in which juries are supposed to deliberate.

Juries should not have a thumb or, in this case, an elbow of the threat of violence on

the scales of justice.

They should be free to render decisions, regardless of the consequences.

What's going on outside of the courtroom should not come into the courtroom.

The judge made a serious, serious mistake, in this case, by not sequestering the jury

from the very beginning.

And so, jurors were home and could hear what Maxine Waters was urging the crowd to do,

stay on the street, being more confrontational, those are code words, clearly.

And the jurors heard that, yes, the judge said don't listen to the news, but that doesn't

mean don't go online, don't listen to your family members.

Obviously, everybody in Minneapolis is on edge and worried.

The President of the United States has spoken to mayors and governors about violence anticipated

in the event of less than a murder verdict.

In the case, that's not the way our criminal justice system is supposed to operate.
