Summary

We're swinging our draft lens to Tuscaloosa do discuss which Alabama prospects fit the Seahawks roster and scheme. Brent Taylor of Roll 'Bama Roll, who followed his Shaun Alexander fandom to Seattle, talks about his perspective on the departure of Kenneth Walker. We revisit last year's discussion about Jalen Milroe and Robbie Ouzts before shifting to this year's Alabama draft class. We start with a look at wide receiver Germie Bernard as a potential third-round "Swiss Army knife" who wins from the slot or outside, contributes on special teams and rarely drops passes.

On the offensive line, Parker Brailsford stands out as an athletic center/guard option who could push for snaps and be a possible long-term option in case the free agent center market gets out of control. On defense, LT Overton draws mixed projection due to unclear role and inconsistent production, while nose tackle Tim Keenan III profiles as a run-stuffer with surprising disruption who could be available in the mid rounds and has the type of personality and background that the Seahawks seem to covet.

Hello and welcome to the SeaHawkers podcast.

0:10.0

I'm your host Brandon Schultz, and today I am joined by a good buddy of mine, a member of our flocker community.

0:18.1

He is Brent Taylor, editor of the Roll-BBama Roll SB Nation site. And yes, a fellow

0:24.8

Seahawks fan. We talked last year, Brent, about a couple of the Alabama prospects. Well,

0:30.0

we talked about all the Alabama prospects. And it turned out we ended up drafting two of them.

0:34.8

So really happy to have you back and see if maybe we're going to take on any more Alabama prospects this year.

0:42.3

Yeah, I'm happy to be back.

0:44.4

I think Uts and Jalen Milro really surprised me last year.

0:48.9

The more, like after it happened, I got more and more excited about it.

0:53.1

But Oots in particular, right? Because that was one, we talked about him as a tight end. I was kind of like, yeah, he'll probably be a Sabbath throne guy. He's a great blocker. But I don't really, like he's kind of short to be a tight end and all the stuff. I didn't really think about it as soon as they said, oh, hey, fullback. I was like, well, yeah, that's what he was meant to be in just like the wrong era. So that was cool. But then still, I mean, the surprising thing, too, is that they drafted him even ahead of the seventh round. So that was a bit surprising. Yeah, yeah. It is excited because he's such a fun guy, too. I hated he got injured as much as he did. I know. Yeah, we, every time he was out on the field, I was like poking someone close to me like, hey, look, a fullback. Watch him go block someone. Yeah. And then every time we had Milro on the field, we got to see a trick play.

So hopefully this preseason will be a little bit more fun to watch and see how Milrose

1:50.4

developed over the year.

1:51.8

But I want to get into some of the current prospects.

1:54.7

I also, before he gets started, I kind of wanted to get your take because as someone who

1:59.6

became a fan of the Seahawks in the Sean Alexander era,

2:03.2

being an Alabama fan, he played there, he came to the Seahawks, you became a fan of the team

2:08.5

following Sean, and then he goes on to be MVP of the league. Seahawks have a decision to make

2:15.7

to sign him. There's a little bit of correlation

2:17.8

this year, Brent, with Kenneth Walker getting the Super Bowl MVP and then moving on.

2:24.1

Was that, has that made it any easier for you having that, those, that, how I guess history

2:32.8

with Sean Alexander, or is it just completely different and

2:36.7

you know you've fall in love with running backs and it's always hard to see them go
