COVID-19 has upended global travel.

The virus has forced travel restrictions on nearly 90% of the world's population for the first time in history.

Airlines and hotels, basically anything connected to tourism, has been hit hard.

When COVID brought all non-essential travel to a halt, Airbnb lost billions in just a few months.

And in early May, they had to lay off a quarter of their workforce, nearly 1,900 people.

But now, just over a month later, things are starting to look different for the company.

They're seeing a huge jump in domestic vacation bookings as people choose small-town

getaways over big city destinations.

What does that mean about the economy, big picture?

And does it mean Airbnb may go public this year after all?

I ask Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky, who's no stranger to leading a company

through crisis.

He launched Airbnb in 2008 in the middle of the Great Recession.

And now he's guiding it through another economic crisis.
