So, air source heat pumps, that's the name suggests, they pump heat.

They capture thermal energy from the air outside your house and move it inside.

And that is done using electricity.

You might have seen a heat pump unit outside a neighbour's house.

They look a bit like a big air conditioner and essentially they do the same thing, only in reverse.
