business on all the major continents, transforming the retail space, and we begin with

the retail space, because of this word tariff, double F. Tariffs are now in the vocabulary of

Europe, of Asia, certainly of the United States, but what does it mean? Because right now,

remarks by the President

elect are remarks. There's two months until inauguration day. There's a new Secretary of the

Treasury. There's a new Secretary of Commerce. There's lots of negotiation available.

Are tariffs a real thing? Are they talk? Can we tell? Chris, a very good evening to you.

The striking detail that the President-elect started with is that these tariffs are directed

against the two partners in the USMCA, which is due for renegotiation in 2026.

And Mexico in particular is seen as suspect because it is said to be a place where

Chinese cutouts are planning to evade some security at the border in order to sell their

products into America, as Mexican may.

Canada, I'm less familiar with, although I noted the mini cucumbers I enjoy here in New England,

come from Canada.

So the puzzle is, are those mini cucumbers going to have a tariff put on them, whatever it is,

10%, 15, 25%.

How do you read this term tariffs?

Because you see all the retail businesses across America from clothing to foods to sports

equipment.
