The lawsuit between Musk and Open AI might have far broader implications for the AI industry at large when it comes to public trust.

Hey, good morning, Carl.

So you've got the two most visible faces of the AI industry, Elon Musk and Sam Altman, accusing each other of betrayal and greed, fighting over a mission that was supposed to be all about humanity.

Now, Musk on the stand calling himself a fool for funding Open AI, Open AI's lawyer telling the jury that Musk is here because he didn't get his way.

The judge at one point telling the lawyers to stop arguing about whether AI is going to kill us all.

So that's the optics.

And the timing, well, that couldn't be worse because the public is already jittery about jobs.

Entry-level hiring is down.

And CEOs are increasingly open about replacing workers with AI.

Markets, they're still nervous about spending and payoff.

Politicians in Washington on both sides, They're looking for someone to blame.

And both of these companies are trying to pull off two of the biggest IPOs in history.

I asked Aden Gomez about this. He is the CEO of Koch here, an AI Foundation startup.

But more importantly, he is one of the authors of the original Transformers paper written way back at Google.

It's the research that basically made modern AI possible.

He's worried, too, about how the public is reacting to AI.

I am concerned. I do think it's, you know, there's certain folks who feel skeptical of the

technology, whether it's AI slop and in the creative industry, there's a lot of

resistance to this, whether it's the energy crisis, right? To power all of this adoption, we need a ton of

energy. And if that is making things more expensive for people, I think that's a hugely
