At the center of this, of course,

is a competition between what we know about Silicon Valley,

now called Artificial Intelligence Valley, AI Valley,

and the People's Republic of China.

I welcome Brandon Weikert of the National Interest,

also writes for Popular Mechanics,

to guide me through a story that came up in London his last days.

It goes like this.

Huawei is building a production line for advanced chips

as part of a network semiconductor facilities in Shenzhen

that seeks to break China's dependence on foreign technologies.

Brandon, here we go again. I have an article from the Wall Street Journal 2016 that identifies

a project underway. It names several companies in league with the Cyprus semiconductor of the

U.S. building a plant in Wuhan.

In 2016, this is before we'd heard

Wuhan associated with pandemics.

Wuhan.

And they poured something like $24, $25 billion
