All in Illinois is known as one of the most haunted small towns in America for a reason. It has more than its

share of haunted houses. There are public places, private residences, and lost

locations that were destroyed by the ravages of time are by what is often

called progress. But there are others that remain in

all their terrifying glory. In this episode we're going to take a look at

haunted houses in Alton. There's no way that we can recall every haunted house in the city. I've heard of

literally scores of homes that would be worthy of mention here, but often their stories

refer to isolated incidents or one-time occurrences of supernatural activity.

Doors open and close, footsteps are heard on the stairs, lights are turned on and off,

all of the trappings of a good ghost story, with only one thing missing, the story. With only one thing missing, the story. So for this episode we'll be

visiting two very different haunted houses in Alton. One is a house that

probably every listener will be familiar with. In fact I'd say that it's probably

the most famous haunted house in the region. The second house, while possibly almost as haunted,

is a place that, well, I could just about guarantee you've never heard of before so turn

down the lights and gather around the radio but there's no need to lock the door
