0:08.0

Welcome, Srirram.

0:10.0

Thanks for having me, Vinod.

0:13.0

So Sriram, before we start off, could you tell us about the genesis of this book?

0:19.0

What prompted you to write about this topic?

0:21.6

I've been consulting for a while now and what I have found is that mostly when we talk about agility, we tend to focus on team level agility. So getting our engineering techniques

0:39.5

right, getting our delivery processes right. And they are all important and essential.

0:47.4

But when it comes to overall IT responsiveness, when it comes to reputation of IT in the eyes of the business I have found

0:58.2

that team level agility by itself is not enough we need something more and that's

1:05.1

1:21.1

journey it can start off doing scrum and the level of teams and when that is

1:27.1

done right yes scrum will take you to UAT.

1:30.3

But it won't take you to production because for that you need to get IT ops involved.

1:36.3

And that's where DevOps and continuous delivery come in. So that's like the next stage in the progression towards agility.

1:45.6

But DevOps itself, when done right, is not just about automation and deployment pipelines

1:52.4

and so on.

1:53.4

It's actually about a bit of reorganization because IT operations people and developers need to

1:58.8

work as part of one single build it and run it team.

2:02.6

And so it is often beyond the scope of individual managers to bring about this sort of reorganization.

2:12.6

And that is still in my mind only the second step towards overall IT and business agility.
