Welcome to The Wally Show Aftercast, all the stuff we did not get to during the course of the show today.

0:05.0

So I'm back. Before I left, there was kind of a, sadly, a scandal that was breaking inside of Christian music.

0:13.0

And I purposely stayed out of it. People were asking me, hey, you know, are you going to comment on this?

0:19.0

And it centers around Michael Tate and the newsboys

0:21.5

and him having a moral failure and like even some drug use and stuff. And like I had stayed out of it

0:27.5

because A, not all the facts are in in the beginning. And a lot of times you comment on things and then

0:33.0

things either get worse or they're not what were reported. And so I just kind of stayed out of it because two, most people probably didn't even know what had happened and what had gone on.

0:44.3

And I'm like, I don't want to pour water or gas on this fire and then have people that are like, oh, I had no idea what was going on.

0:51.3

Oh, now I'm going to go see this. And now you get drug into this scandal.

0:54.4

But then all of a sudden it broke and it made it on to like Good Morning America and bigger

things like that.

1:00.2

And I still wasn't in like, oh, I'm going to comment about, you know, Michael Tate on this

1:04.8

because I look, the guy messed up.

1:06.8

He did some bad things.

1:08.1

Because the reality is every Christian artist, every Christian radio host has sin in their life. None of us have the right to do any of this stuff. None of us are without blame. We're just fortunate enough

1:27.8

to be able to. And then some people have different areas that they're broken in and that other

1:32.8

people maybe don't struggle in. And so I really, again, I kind of stayed out of this. And so

1:38.3

like after the scandal broke, the whole Christian music industry, though, was put on blast. Like online and in socials,

1:46.0

people were like, oh, they're all hypocrites and it's filled with fallen people. And yeah,

1:49.8

I mean, it's filled with fallen people. That's true. But not everybody is a massive hypocrite.

1:54.9

Christian musicians are imperfect. They're fallible people. and these moral failures are not widespread or rampant

2:03.3

like they want you to believe.
