What did the Kim Trump Summit in Singapore give us? Is it the same old story of

North Korea appearing to seek engagement only to withdraw once more?

Or is the world entering more promising territory with the Hermit Kingdom.

In yesterday's live Cato Connect's program, Doug Bandau and Eric Gomez discussed with me

what comes next after the summit?

What was anybody expecting to get out of this brief meeting?

And of course, the levels of discussion, we only saw really one of them, we there were several levels of discussion among

the the two regimes but what do we expect what did people expect to get out of this

and what should we have expected? I had pretty low expectations going into it.

I thought that given the time pressure is involved

and how much time the two sides had

to actually work out differences before it happened and the fact that it almost

fell apart a couple weeks before it did happen meant that we weren't going to get

anything to concrete and we didn't get anything that concrete. It was a pretty general

statement.

There was some agreements to work towards bigger principles

with the details being left for later, which is fine.

I think that it's fine that the summit produced what it did

and that it's going to signal the start of a longer process.

If you look from the initial meeting of the two through the working group, through the luncheon,
