Imagine living with an animal who could kill you. Think about it. What if your pet was dangerous?

I personally have a basset hound, a cockapoo, two hairless skinny pigs, and a budger agar, so this is a big

stretch of the imagination for me. Maybe if they all teamed up, they could take me down,

but they're pretty harmless animals. Perhaps there are pet owners listening who spend time with

some more threatening species. Big dogs can take down humans under the right circumstances.

But dogs attack people when they are angry. Today, we are talking about an animal who attacks people

when they are hungry. So imagine that. Imagine living with a predator and imagine you are prey.

Imagine if you owned an African rock python, an animal who reportedly can reach 200 pounds and 20 feet long,

certainly well over 10 feet long, certainly growing as heavy as the average human.

This animal has eaten people. There is no doubt about human. This animal has eaten people.

There is no doubt about it.

This animal has consumed humans.

I have read many horrifying, albeit unsubstantiated reports, from African newspapers telling

stories of wild pythons devouring humans.

I've also read more credible reports

confirmed in the Journal of Herpetology and The Telegraph. The Telegraph reported on a tragic

incident in the early 2000s where a young boy was swallowed whole by a wild python.

And yet some people take this creature into their home as a pet.

While I find the psychology behind owning dangerous predators fascinating, I'm not judging anyone

for that impulse to live with such a creature. This animal is beautiful and powerful, and so maybe

I can see why some people would once spend time with one,

but even people who care for this creature have to acknowledge the threat these animals can pose.
