There's a little cabin I often visit to study and to write.

It is miles off the main road and even farther from the cares of the world.

It's also on a pretty unreliable power grid.

Well, last spring, I was there for a few days when one night the power went out.

Which I inch, I felt my way through the cabin towards the door.

But even once outside, the overcast skies and lack of any moon had me shrouded in the thick

darkness.

I couldn't see that I could hear every snapping twig became a giant bear in my mind.

The slightest rustle of leaves was surely a pack of hungry wolves.

I felt my way in the dark, walking by faith to a shed where I remembered seeing a lantern

in matches, striking the match, touching it to the wick.

I felt cheerful to say the least, finally seeing what I had only felt by faith and how

it gave me courage to face the dark, unknown.

The theme of this meditation from 2 Corinthians chapter 5 is about being afraid of the dark,

finding the courage to walk by faith into the face of the unknown.
