When the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan on the 15th of August,

2021, they claimed they would be less hard-lined in their previous incarnation

of the late 1990s when even television was banned.

But two years on, they have reverted to type declaring music to be immoral

and canceling the freedoms enjoyed by women and girls for two decades,

as we heard in our earlier podcast.

The Taliban have accused the West of using the issue to put pressure on them,
