something very rare, a second chance to get Afghanistan right. I welcome Bill Rajah,

senior fellow of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy Democracy and his colleagues keep the Long War Journal.

The Doha Agreement of 2019 led to the catastrophe of 2020, led to the catastrophe of 2021.

Yes, the Biden administration made a bad call. Yes, they covered it up for years. However, the original Doha agreement was the Trump

administration's responsibility. What are they going to do about it now that they're back in authority?

al-Qaeda is very welcome in Afghanistan. We have reason to believe that ISIS works now and

There is, as you noted, rightfully so, there's an opportunity here.

It's not often that an administration will be put in this situation.

They need a fresh slate on who is going to advise them for Afghanistan, hopefully

the right people.

Discard the Zalmei Kalizades and the Barnett Rubens of the world, the ones who told us

the Taliban would moderate, the ones who told us that the Taliban were genuinely interested

in sharing power with the Afghan government.
