did this topic come up? What made you interested in searching for affordable mountain bike towns?

So to go all the way back, about four years ago, I moved to the mountain town of

Salida, Colorado. And while we made the move easily enough after living here for a couple of years

and starting to look around to buy a house, we were just struck by the difficulty of owning a home

in a small touristy mountain town. At that time, we thought, hey, maybe there's somewhere

else in Colorado that's more affordable. Like maybe we can move and save some money. But the short

answer at the time was not really and definitely not for a mountain town of comparable quality

to Salida. Everything else was just more expensive. So at that time, we got pretty lucky.
