I'm so, so, so excited to be joined this week by my pal, Pete Holmes.

Pete is the host of the wildly popular podcast You Made It Weird,

and the star and creator of the recently ended, but nevertheless amazing HBO series crashing.

He's also the author of a new memoir called Comedy Sex God, and in all of Pete's efforts he strives to look at

and look through his Christian upbringing and his spiritual striving to have a deeper

understanding of what exactly is going on in the world also Pete is a comedian so he's

very funny when he does it.

So Pete and I talk about a lot of great things on this episode, but for me, the real action

starts when we do a little spiritual, phenomenological experiment towards the last third of the

episode. So I won't spoil that for you. And along the way,

there's a lot of other great stuff. We talk about identity and certainty, whether or not

lucid dreaming is good for us, free will. We talk about all sorts of stuff. And then when we get into the little experiment that

I had sort of set up for Pete, it just might sound like two kind of stoner dudes talking and being

like, whoa, you know, in our Keanu voices. But I think actually these are the kinds of questions

and experiments that have a lot of meaning for people

and be really exciting for you to just try the same thing at home.

It's a little experiment with sight and just trying to describe your actual experiences.

It's a lot more difficult and interesting than it sounds at first.
