Hi, this is Against Everyone with Connor Abeeb. This episode's guest is the psychotherapist,

writer, and spiritual practitioner, Duncan Barford. I wanted to share a little story about

the first time Duncan and I met, which was last year in London. I had actually known about Duncan's work for quite a long

time. He has a series of books with his collaborator, Alan Chapman, called The Baptist Head,

which are all about his and Alan's path towards enlightenment using certain spiritual magic practices as well as

contemplations of different religions, different spiritual practitioners and gurus, even sort of

pop culture and just life incidents. It's a really incredible series of books.

It's out of print now, so it's kind of hard to find,

but there's new editions coming out sometime soon.

So I was familiar with that,

and I was also familiar with Duncan's extended work,

occult experiments in the home, which is a blog and

also became a book that's titled Accult Experiments in the Home, as well as a few other books

that continue the projects where he links occult understanding to paranormal instances and

vice versa.

So I had liked Duncan's work and I was familiar with it.

And I also had to do a book launch in London for my novel, Hawk Mountain.

Treadwells is the best occult bookstore in London, and I knew that

Hawk Mountain wasn't exactly a fit for a launch there. It's, you know, a novel that's, it has some

occulty, esoteric stuff in it, but it's just kind of laced with it.

You don't really see it.

You don't really know that it's there for the most part.
