Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Habib. Friends, I'm so excited to share this episode with

you, me in conversation with my good friend, the philosopher, theologian, Lakanian, Higalian, Peter

Rollins. Peter and I have been friends for a really long time, and you would think that being friends with

each other for so long, we would almost exhaust the conversations of ideas that we have, but it

never seems to happen. And one of the really interesting things is that Peter's perspective,

which comes a lot from psychoanalysis and continental philosophy,

has so much in common with mine, which is really rooted in the occult and esoteric Christianity,

but there are differences that are key and foundational differences, which make for great conversation

because we can just keep teasing out those differences and think about why is it that we have

so much in common and yet feel so different. And yet those differences make us want to have conversation more,

not because we are getting into disagreement or debate,

but rather because we're just meeting one another again and again and again.

It takes a kind of faith in a friend to be able to do that. If you listen to the previous

episode with Caitlin Doty, you'll hear something similar. I mean, Caitlin and I come from very

different perspectives when it comes to death. And on that episode, we also talk about love.

And yet, there's this dance of excitement and enthusiasm going on.

And it's something that I really hope people take away from this podcast, which is that there's an

entire art to conversation, an entire livingness to conversation

that happens when we don't try to debate or disagree, but rather just take an interest

in one another. And that's ultimately what this episode ends up sort of landing in.
