Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Habebe. Happy Valentine's Day friends. Obviously,

many of us are thinking about love today or the day this airs. Maybe you're listening to it

on another day, but you're still probably thinking about love. Whether you want to or not,

the messaging on Valentine's Day is to see love, to connect with love, or to buy love. Or if you want to take part

in Valentine's Day by not taking part, by having the antithesis of it with Galentine's Day, or

buying things that relate to how single you are, posting things that relate to how much you hate

Valentine's Day, et cetera, et cetera. It's all around.

I wanted to talk about love, but I wanted to talk about it in a different way.

Love is the great presence in our lives.

Love for our partners, for ourselves, for God, for things, for events, for where we live.

So it's a constant companion, but the other constant

companion is death. Love and death walk hand in hand together. But how exactly do they walk

hand in hand? How do they relate to each other? So I asked my friend and frequent guest of the show,

Caitlin Doty, to talk about all of this with me.

We walk together with love and death, working to define each on our own terms.

It's a thing that makes death hard, unless it's the thing that makes death beautiful,

unless it's the thing that makes the cycle of life and death

beautiful. When we talk about love, a lot of times we're talking about, I know that you're not me,

which is not something that we ever have proof for. I can't ever prove that you're not just part of me,

but that I say that you aren't part of me indicates that I love you.

To frame this conversation a little bit more, I want to tell you where I'm coming from when it comes to love and death.

For me, I go into this a bit on the show, but for me, love is an emanating presence.
