Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Abib, a podcast featuring my conversations with countercultural figures and presenting complex, philosophical, spiritual, and political ideas in an engaging and accessible way.

Friends, when I moved to Ireland in 2019, the conversation here was very much about the ways in which Ireland was changing.

0:21.6

It was such a conversation about the new Ireland.

0:25.9

Gay marriage was legal, abortion was legal in ways that it never was before.

0:31.0

New light had been shed on the Catholic Church and its role in atrocity.

0:36.9

But also, tech was encroaching. All these tech companies,

0:43.2

Google, Facebook, Twitter, you know, the normal, the usual suspects, they were throwing new

2:07.6

People spouting off about how great Malcolm Gladwell and Stephen Pinker were. People having really boring conversations about devices all the time.

2:19.3

I see a lot of that happening here in Dublin now as a result of these tech companies.

2:28.3

And a sort of feeling arises here when regarding policies of the Irish government. It's one of bowing constantly to

2:36.8

developers and a class of tech loyalists. And even as a housing crisis has enveloped Dublin and a

2:46.0

wages crisis. And tech companies keep buying up land and historical buildings keep being demolished to make way for the tech companies and their proxy hotels and so-called co-living spaces.

2:58.9

The people that often fancy themselves as the opposition to this are fascist traditionalists in Ireland, who believe that cultural changes aren't just bound
