Hi, this is Against Everyone with Connor Habib, a weekly podcast featuring my conversations with

countercultural figures and presenting complex, philosophical, spiritual, and political ideas in an

engaging and accessible way. Well, friends, as the year comes to an end, we find ourselves

surrounded by, or maybe being, people who are holding onto seemingly

incommensurable sets of beliefs and ideas.

And those sets of beliefs and ideas are being held onto so tightly, more tightly, not less

tightly, as this ship seems to be aimless into 2021.

While some of you might be finding a sense of relief in the changing of the guard in the U.S. and the presence of a vaccine, many other people feel agitated

by both. Or maybe you're one of the people who feels agitated. This was the year that one community, one group of people, would try to dominate and

humiliate other communities and other groups of people. That seemed to be the rule of the year.

But at the same time, within those communities, you'd see amazing outpoints of mutual aid, of togetherness,

of new demands for the structures that are supposed to be serving us. So that was a very interesting

conundrum. And I want to understand all of this. I want to think through all of it and have a

conversation about belief and politics and the unknown. So I invited my friends Peter Rollins and Elliot Morgan to the show.

Peter is a psychoanalytic philosopher and theologian.

He's been on the show before three times, in fact, on episode 14, 55, and 70,

along with Todd McGowan on episode 70.

These days, one of his projects is hosting the podcast, The Fundamentalists, with Elliot Morgan.

Elliot is a comedian and part of the wildly popular online entertainment comedy group,

The Valley Folk.

On each episode of The Fundamentalist, Elliot comes to Peter basically with his everyday but perceptive concerns about the world.
