Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Habib, a weekly podcast featuring my conversations

with countercultural figures and presenting complex, philosophical, spiritual, and political ideas

in an engaging and accessible way. Well, friends, as we pass through from 2020 to 2021, I wanted to share

some of the things that I've been able to understand over the past year and what that means

for the year ahead. I know a lot of you are anxious or hopeful or whatever. The feelings are high.

And the everyday experience might be dulled, but the feelings are high. And I wanted to talk about

what it means to move forward and what to look out for and I'm going to do that with a few points

I'm going to talk about the proximity of the spiritual the collapse of knowledge the problem of community

and the problem with communion.

So let's start.

I mean, I think what we all saw

and what's still going on in our lives

was the centering of medicalization.

I mean, isn't this fascinating that right in the center of our consciousness

for quite a long time now is medicine, health, healing, illness, the body. There's a sort of public

health dystopia or utopia, however you want to look at it, taking the stage.

And there's masks and graphs and lines and curves and numbers.

Those numbers especially were indicative of this medicalized situation, case numbers,

ICU numbers, death numbers.

And then of course outside that medicalization,

there are poll numbers and electoral and voter numbers.

There's how viruses work and how they don't work, how vaccines work, and how they don't work,
