Hello and welcome back to the Truth Seekers podcast. Today is our ninth day of Advent as we reflect and remember the coming of Jesus.

The night Jesus was born, the Bible says that Mary wrapped him up in swaddling clothes. Can you say swaddling?

When a mother swaddles her baby, she wraps him up tight and cozy. Have you ever wrapped

yourself up in a cozy blanket? Did it make you feel safe and warm? Mothers swaddle their babies

by wrapping cloth around them to keep them safe and warm. Did you know

that baby lambs during the time of Jesus' birth were also swaddled? You might think, why would a lamb need to be swaddled?

In those days, lambs were offered as sacrifices unto the Lord.

Only perfect lambs with no spot or blemishes could be offered unto the Lord.

When an unblemished spotless lamb was born, the shepherd would swaddle it so to protect it from blemishes.

The Bible compares Jesus to a lamb.

He is the lamb who was slain.

Many years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah prophesied

that Jesus would give his life as a sacrifice,

just as the spotless lambs were sacrificed unto the Lord.

Isaiah even called Jesus a lamb in Isaiah chapter 53, verse 7, when he predicted that Jesus would die for us.

He said, He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth.

He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep

before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. Jesus was a sacrifice for us,

so that we would not have to die. Jesus gave his life so that we could live. Jesus was a pure spotless lamb with no sin so that he could take all of our sin for us.

When Jesus died on the cross, he took our sin and gave us forgiveness. We now have peace with God. God no longer sees our sin because the blood Jesus shed washes us, white us snow, and makes us clean.

We no longer need to feel guilty for our sin.
