Hello and welcome to the Truth Seekers podcast. Today is day 11 of our Advent series as we

continue to remember the first coming of Jesus and look forward to his second coming.

The night that Jesus was born, the shepherds were in the fields keeping watch over their sheep.

We learned that Jesus is the good shepherd, and we are his sheep.

In Matthew 18, Jesus told a parable about a shepherd who lost one of his sheep. He said, what do you think?

If a man owns a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the 99 on the hills

and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly, I tell you, he is happier

about that one sheep than about the 99 that did not wander off.

In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.

Can you imagine a shepherd who has 99 sheep, leaving them to go and find the lost one?

The shepherd loved all one hundred of his sheep so much that he was not willing to let

even one of them be lost.

He left the rest of his sheep so that he could go and find that lost one.

This is just what Jesus has done for you and me.

Before we knew Jesus, we were that lost sheep.

Sin separates us from God, but Jesus was not willing that we should be lost.

He loves us so much that he chose to leave his home in heaven and come and rescue us.

We could not find our way to God, but he found his way to us. We could not reach him, so he came to us. I'd like to read a hymn to you by Elizabeth Cecilia

was out on the hills away, far off in the cold and dark, away on the mountains wild and bare,

away from the tender shepherd's care.
