So a week ago, I experienced something that I have not experienced in Auburn in a long time, and it was pure, elation, joy at a four-over-time victory that was unbelievable. You can clap. It's all right. You can clap. And it was a foretaste if I believe the future. But when that was happening, I get a call from a friend who's like,

you're not going to believe this. And he puts me on speakerphone. And he's like, my whole house is reverberating with swag surfans base right now. And so I'm listening to this moment. And I realize, like, this is what it's all about. This is awesome. I'm experiencing true hope, true joy. and then I took me back to this time four years ago because I didn't grow up an Auburn fan. I didn't, I wasn't raised in Auburn. I don't really understand Auburn that well when I moved here. And I remember asking a guy who's a diehard Auburn fan. His name is Michael Fagan. He led you in worship. Michael Fagan. And I remember asking him, I'm like, man, help me understand what it's like to be an Auburn fan.

And he's like, it, help me understand what it's like to be an Auburn fan.

And he's like, it comes down to one word, hope.

Hope is everything and nothing at the same time.

And it made me realize, though, there is this interesting thing that we do where we interpret reality

based on our experience of hope. And so I wanted us to

experience the power of hope today. So the title for this sermon is hidden hope. Hidden hope.

We're going to look at the genealogy, of all places, the genealogy of Jesus Christ,

where we're going to find embedded in the very history of his places, the genealogy of Jesus Christ, where we're going to find embedded in the very

history of his lineage, there is hope. Anybody need hope today? Need some hope today? Okay,

like Miles was saying just now, for me in my life, I don't know if I've ever experienced the need

for more hope than just a few days ago at Thanksgiving. I don't know if I've ever experienced the need for more hope than just a few days

ago at Thanksgiving. I don't think I'm the only one. The beginning of this year, I knew this

would be an interesting year. My mom had cancer, and I knew this would be the year that we were going

to say goodbye to her. So back in February, we said goodbye to my mother, and that Sunday had already

been prepared to preach, and I was

thinking and wrestling, well, where's the hope? Is the hope that you'll be miraculously healed?

Or is the hope? Like, where's the hope in this story? In Acts 236 says, Paul says this,

I stand on trial today because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead.

So in the middle of that season, there was a revelation that I feel like I got from God.

There was the last blow the enemy has over your life and over my life is death.
