Well, Advent is not a sermon series that we do once a year. It's a season for the global church

to remember the arrival of Jesus 2,000 years ago and look forward to the second arrival of Jesus when he returns.

So being a non-denominational church, a lot of what we want to do at ACC is call us, yes,

to be a church that expresses itself for the next generation in relevant ways, but also that

looks back and reminds us of the history that we come from.

That's why when we're singing, great is thy faithfulness, I don't know about you, I grew up

Southern Baptist.

I'm picturing my mom and dad with that hymnal and that choir with their robes, which my dad

was in.

And it's hilarious because my dad grew up Roman Catholic.

And I'm pretty sure the whole time he was in the choir, he was not actually a Christian.

But he was one of the few guys.

It's like, do you know Jesus?

That's not really important.

You can sing bass because my dad's voice is really low. And I just remember sitting there as a kid

hearing, great is thy faithfulness. And now to hear it at 36 years old, there's a depth to our faith,

at least in my story that goes, man, that hymn written years and years ago is something that's

been written into my life. This is deeper than a cool expression on a stage with songs that make

me feel something. Our faith is rooted in the story of a church that has been exploding and expanding

for 2,000 years. So Advent season last week when we're talking about hope, we are joining in with the

global church that's looking forward with hope to the second coming of Jesus. And then week two,

when we turn the page on hope and talk about peace, I just want you to know this is bigger than
