Hey everybody, this is Aubrey Chavez from Faith Matters. Today we're so excited to share a conversation with you from our good friend and teammate at Faith Matters, Cecee Prophet. If you've followed Faith Matters for a while, then you've felt CC's influence. Her energy, creativity, and care shapes so much about what we do behind the scenes. And so today we're thrilled that she's stepping in front of the mic to talk about one of her very favorite subjects, Advent.

In this conversation, Cece offers a beautiful and grounding introduction to Advent.

So if this tradition is new to you, you're going to come away with some simple and meaningful ways to begin.

But more than that, she invites us to experience Advent as a season of sacred longing, a time to hold both the beauty and the ache of

our lives, and to trust that God will meet us in all of it. C.C. helps us to see that Advent

prepares us for the joy of Christ coming, not by turning away from the hard and the real, but by

teaching us to stay with it, that in that presence, something holy unfolds. And maybe most beautifully,

she reminds us that we are part of this unfolding, that Christ comes not just to us in this season, but through us, through our love, our creativity.

She says we join in the work of hastening the time of peace on earth, goodwill toward men.

All right, well, Cece, welcome to the podcast. It's so fun to get to talk to you for real on the podcast. We talk to you all the time about Faith Matters, but never while we're recording. So this is really a treat to get to have you on about Advent. So welcome, officially. Thank you. Thank you. So I think that celebrating Advent is kind of new to a lot of us. It's new to us. It's something that we love and that we've been doing for a few years, but it still feels like it still feels like something that we're discovering and we're creating traditions around. And so we are excited to talk to you about it because I know that this is something that you care a lot about and have thought a lot about and written about. But I think that it would be helpful

to just do an overview for people who like us are just kind of are learning about Advent and

kind of feeling their way into this month before Christmas. Can you just give us a refresher?

Like what is Advent? What are the weeks?

How do people celebrate it? Yeah. So if you're part of a tradition that follows like the

liturgical calendar, the whole year is broken into seasons, which is kind of cool. It gives

this nice sort of like inhale, exhale pattern to the church year.

And so in the like Western Christian tradition, there's three great mysteries each year.
