Summary

ADV-X in Canada turned out to be far more than just another riding event. By the end of the first day, faces were caked in dust, grins were everywhere, and the sense of camaraderie was undeniable. From trail-side fixes and overnight repairs to long mountain days, it was passion in motion—riders looking out for each other and a crew ensuring no one was left behind. Combine a world-class terrain with smart logistics that kept everything seamless, a spirit of fun, and you have an event that showcased the very best of adventure motorcycling in Canada. In this episode, you’ll learn how the framework came together from Ryan Austin, instructor and owner of Enduro Park Canada in British Columbia—and hear from riders who lived those moments on the trail.

You may have heard me say in the last couple of weeks that I was going to an event called ADVX.

It's a BMW-sponsored ride in British Columbia, Canada.

And I'll admit, when I went into this event, I had the same preconceptions you may have when you hear that name.

I pictured a corporate thing.

Banners, speeches, a little riding, and probably a lot of marketing. Well, what I walked into

0:23.3

felt quite different than that. And it really struck me the end of day one, getting off the

bike, pulling my helmet off. My face is caked in dust. I'm caked in dust, really literally

0:33.8

head to toe. And I can feel myself smiling just because it was just so damn fun.

0:39.7

Not just the riding, the whole thing, the people, the feeling, the passion that everyone had.

0:44.9

You could hear that in other riders' voice stepping off the bikes around me. And it carried on

0:48.6

into the evening and the next morning. And really, it stayed the entire five days. You could see the

0:53.8

passion in the morning when

0:55.6

you're getting ready to get on your bike. There's Clinton Smout, has got his toolkit out. He's

swapping tires, adjusting handlebars, tightening drive chains. Rob Egan and Saul from the Brooklyn

cycle crew, they're the ones that brought the bikes. They were there as well. Ryan's Enduro Park, Canada folks were there. Everyone getting ready, not just their stuff, but other

people's stuff so that they were ready to ride the next day. So anything that somebody had

happened to them was either fixed that night when they came back or in the morning before we left.

And we left on time. I mean, tires changed, hand tools, not a machine. And somehow every departure was sorted we left on time. I mean, tires changed hand tools, not a machine. And somehow,

1:28.6

every departure was sorted and done on time. One rider had a brutal run of luck, Johnny. His bike

had quit on the way in. So then he ended up, he thought he wasn't going to ride, but then he was

offered a bike to borrow from Ryan's Enduro Park, Canada, with the idea

that he could either rent it or if he wanted to, because he had talked about buying one,
