Before we could even take off our helmets, three little boys gathered around our machines.

Where you from? they asked Canada. The boy's eyes grew wide. They stared at us and each other as if we said Mars.

Is it cold in Canada? Yes, very cold. That's why we're here.

Here it is always hot, they said. I know, I'm hot right now. I'm always hot.

The boys gave each other strange looks and started laughing and pushing each other.

In retrospect, that provided the first indication that my Spanish was seriously flawed.

Later, much later, I'm afraid, I learned that every time I meant to say I'm hot,

I actually said, I am horny. I told nearly everyone from Texas to Guatemala that I was horny, which explains

When it was a hot sunny day for the Horizons Unlimited...
