Hi everyone, it's Dr. Niagara again. Our next episode of Psychology Unplugged. Thanks as always to all of our

followers here in the U.S. and elsewhere across the globe. I appreciate your constant and continued

feedback and support of the program. And I like it when you guys email me and I had a really

another fun week of texting and emailing and having the opportunity to talk to people about a

variety of topics I know there's people out there who want to learn more about the Roershock

and specific psychological assessments who are in the program and there's Julie with the water that hasn't changed and the years we've been doing this.

But again, this is a fun opportunity to really create awareness and bring awareness and factual information to mental health because there's so much

information out there that is available you know if it's on Google it must be true if it's on

the internet must be true social media I from my perspective really it muddies the water for, I think, definitely for people

searching for answers for problems with themselves or a loved one.

And, you know, social media doesn't really do a good job of buffering what is you

would call more like pop psychology with what is legitimate uh psychology and psychiatry you know

so when it comes to terms like, what I brought

this before, like neurodivergence, that is not a word, that is not a term, that is not a diagnosis.

And it really confuses the clinical landscape because I've asked people, some people think

that means ADHD, some people think that means autism, to some people that's gender identity, to some people

that's borderline personality. But it really muddies the water when we actually have a classification

system and a diagnostic model to which referred to in making diagnoses.

And I talk to people, and I think there's this interesting trend that it's almost cool to have a psychiatric diagnosis.

I see this a lot with a lot of older adults who are questioning if they were misdiagnosed for autism.

A lot of people really are in search of an ADHD diagnosis across the lifespan.

And that's what I'm going to kind of talk about today.
