0:00.0	What's your mission within the world of ADHD?
0:03.4	So my story begins with my very first ADHD client who I had.
0:08.7	I was just out of graduate school, and he was an elementary school,
0:13.8	and at the time we didn't know that he had ADHD.
0:17.6	And his parents came to me, and they said, fix him.
0:21.3	And I said, okay.
0:23.6	And he didn't seem broken to me.
0:26.8	He was this cute kid and he was calling out in class.
0:31.7	He was missing his deadlines.
0:34.1	He was fighting with his parents because of homework.
0:37.2	And we sat down together and I said to him,
0:42.1	you know, look so and so, you know, what's your experience here? And he told me and he said that
0:49.5	it's very difficult for him to pay attention in class and that he's fighting with his parents and his
0:55.0	teachers giving him bad grades. And as we spoke, it became very clear to me that this was not
1:00.5	the defiant kid that he had been made out to be, that he was actually quite bright and
1:07.3	quite capable. But he was having difficulty because of these executive functioning skills
1:13.7	that he could not harness.
1:15.7	So after some time of working together, we identified some strategies and tools that were
1:21.2	going to be helpful to him, and Alex, he took off.
1:25.3	He became successful.
1:46.7	His grades went up. The fighting went down at home, actually developed a nice relationship with a teacher. And to be a part of that process, to be squarely in his corner and to be supporting him know, supporting him and rooting him on was quite a privilege.
1:49.7	And I was sold.
