Summary

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

This week Pip is joined by acting great ADEEL AKHTAR!

There's no doubt that this is a very special episode, as you have rightfully come to expect from Distraction Pieces. But there's a feeling of almost meditation on this one, a sense of two people building a very detailed structure of conversation and being in total flow state with it, while all the time the door is open for everyone listening (as opposed to two people having a locked-off personal catch up, you know?). Adeel has clearly done a lot of thinking and indeed meditating on this craft of acting, and so much of it is present here as he and Pip get into all aspects of the game, including the process itself and the myriad facets within, the art and mechanics of theatre acting versus screen acting and the subtle alterations that are necessary, and the idea of requiring permission to pivot or try something new when you might already be exactly where you need to be. As Adell quotes, "dig where you stand". What's also perfect is that he joined Pip for this chat while he was on break from rehearsing for 'Mass', which is also talked about in here. Pure craft on display. Oh and also please check the Music Boutique link below - more details in the ep. Enjoy!

0:14.9

and almost had him on about a year ago when he was doing show trial maybe for something he was doing

0:25.9

because I'm a fan of so much he's in but he's currently doing a play called Mass at the

0:31.3

Donmar until the 6th of June that honestly sounds absolutely astounding so this was the perfect time to meet up. He made time for me

0:39.9

in his lunch break from rehearsals, which when you kind of hear the intense nature of the play,

0:49.8

you'll be honoured and astounded to be listening to this here conversation. So yeah, as said, you'll be honored and astounded to be listening to this here conversation.

0:56.3

So, yeah, as said, you'll know a deal from Utopia, from Showtrial, from just a million

1:04.8

different things, sweet tooth, like, I mean, four lions.

1:13.3

Like, so many good things.

1:15.9

And we've got so many mutual friends.

1:20.1

So it's beautiful when our paths have finally crossed.

1:23.3

And you'll hear that we were both as excited to talk to each other.

1:31.6

I love these ones where it's a genuine conversation because I had to try really hard to make sure to keep steering it back to a deal because the deal just had questions and things to discuss as you have in conversations.

1:36.0

I think you're going to really enjoy this.

1:39.2

Before we get into it, I want to thank everyone for all the love on socials of late. A couple of weeks back,

1:46.2

it was the 19 year anniversary of mine and Dan Lassack's song, Thou Shall Always Kill, which was our

1:53.2

first single, which brought us to national, well, international eyes and ears. And we did a little

1:58.1

post, like we've not posted on the anniversaries previously, but we did

2:01.7

a little post. And the amount of stories that you guys had of when you first heard that song,

2:06.8

of what it meant to you, of seeing it live, all these things. I've been really genuinely

2:10.8

beautiful and moving. So thank you for that. It was on Instagram, because that's the only
