In this community, we believe in being honest. So let’s say it: loving someone suffering from addiction is hard.

Your life may feel completely chaotic and out of control at times, but other times, you get a glimpse of your dreams when your partner is sober. It may feel like a crazy roller coaster ride.

Think about this: addiction came into your life for a reason. You chose your partner for a reason. Loving someone with addiction can be our greatest opportunity to grow and become the women we’re destined to be.

0:38.0	But did you know that it's also a wonderful opportunity for you. Now hear me out for a second.
0:46.8	There's a reason you are partnered with this person in your life who is suffering from drug addiction or
0:55.8	alcoholism or pornography addiction there's a reason that feeling
1:02.4	rejected and hurt every time they choose their substance of choice over
1:07.6	you, there's a reason that can be a very good thing.
1:15.0	Now I know there's a lot of suffering going on in your life right now.
1:19.0	I get it.
1:21.0	I was once exactly where you are. But can I tell you that addiction was the best thing that
1:30.8	ever happened to me? Now true it's ridiculously painful and there were
1:36.8	days where I just wanted to get in bed, hide under the covers, and quit.
1:44.4	But underneath all the pain, there was a calling stronger than addiction,
1:51.5	a calling to create a better life and I knew the only way I could get there was to do the work
2:02.4	to learn how to manage the conflict, to show up and look pain and truth right
2:10.9	in the eye and say, I am here to learn. I am not hiding. I am not denying. I am
2:20.3	willing to change.
2:23.2	Because here's the secret.
2:25.8	Their addiction is not just their calling.
2:30.8	It's yours, too. Addiction is here to help grow you into the person you were destined to become.
