Great to be here. Thanks for having me.

We take another walk through a recent Supreme Court opinion today

as we look at Kennedy v. Bremerton School District,

a religious liberty-type question in front of the Supreme Court this past term.

What, in fact, was the specific question in front of the Supreme Court this past term. What, in fact, was the specific question

in front of the court in this Kennedy case? Right. So the thing to know is that the school

fired an assistant football coach for praying at the 50-yard line, and the question was, did his,

did firing him for that violate his First Amendment rights on two counts to free exercise of religion and to freedom of speech?

And so the court was taking up both questions there.

Something I think we need to make clear before we begin digging it a bit deeper is the misinterpretation in some of the writings about this case

since the opinion's been released. There have been a lot of places, a lot of outlets, if you read,

essentially they're saying this coach was disciplined because he was leading groups of students

in prayer at the 50-yard line after games. That was true at one point,
