In medicine, we say something is pathonomic when it's characteristic for a particular disease.

Like a pathinemonic sign is some kind of particular sign where the presence means that the particular disease is present beyond a reasonable doubt.

disease. So what is acute mesentereic ischemia? Well, it's akin to a myocardial infarction of the gut.

In acute mesentere iskemae, you have the sudden onset of severe hypoprofusion and this is usually and most commonly due to an embolic phenomenon to the superior mesentereic artery.

Now we talked before about SMA syndrome. This is an

SMA occlusion and it's a full-on infarction. So let's go over a little bit of
